by PR Digital on November 16, 2010

Shibley RahmanDr Shibley Rahman launches on 1st December 2010 officially his brand new blog (“shibleyrahman.com”). It is entirely centred around the life and works of Shibley Rahman, which consists of a tragic coma for two months heralding the beginning of his time in recovery from alcoholism, a professional life devoted to research in dementia, his recent initiatives in postgraduate medical education, and his family which consists of his family in Bangladesh, his uncle and auntie in Liverpool, and his sole surviving parent, his mother, who lives with him in Primrose Hill. His papers on dementia are internationally renowned, in his specialist interest of frontotemporal dementia, including its diagnosis (http://brain.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/122/8/1469 ) and treatment (http://www.nature.com/npp/journal/v31/n3/full/1300886a.html ).

Shibley Rahman is a strong advocate that the GMC should look after sick doctors. He  regularly blogs on his website Shibley Rahman and my discussion group (which allows anyone to sign up and leave comments). .  If anybody has similarly distressing personal experiences, he would love to hear from them. His father died on 10th November 2011, to whom he was completely devoted.

Shibley Rahman has nearly seven degrees, including the second highest First Class Honours degree from the University of Cambridge in 1996 in natural sciences/medicine.  Rahman went up to Cambridge in 1993, and hegraduated in 2001 with his Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and Doctor of Philosophy.

He was profoundly suffering from a severe alcohol disorder after around 2003 On 3rd June 2007, I was admitted to the Royal Free Hospital, having had an epileptic seizure and a cardiac arrest. He had in fact started an outstanding academic career when he became a Queen’s Scholar in 1987 at Westminster School. In fact, since 2007, despite being disabled, he has recovered such that he has completed my Bachelor of Law and (by December 2010) his Master of Law. Shibley Rahman has also achieved a PRINCE2 qualification in complex project management. He is about to start a MBA (Master of Business Administration), which appears to make perfect sense for him as he is the Company Director of a private limited company myself, and an associate of the Institute of Directors. Shibley Rahman is much enthused about commerce and entrepreneurship, which also explains why he has decided to be elected to a Fellowship of the Royal Society for Arts, Commerce and Entrepreneurship.

In terms of his outside interests, he has also been elected as a Member of the Society of Biology, and he is a proud member of the European Medical Writers Association. He loves photography (and taking classic photographs) (http://www.flickr.com/people/shibleyrahman/ ) and books (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/pdp/profile/ABA2ALMCYZ9SJ ) Furthermore, he loves cooking, theatre and left-wing politics (being a member of the Labour Party, the Fabian Society, Compass and Progress).

His professional  LinkedIn account is live and he also loves loves social media.  You can connect with Shibley through these social media channels:
